SUPPORTING STUDENT SUCCESS!
2014 – 2015 Success Stories

You make the difference! Your support enables the Alameda Education Foundation to enrich educational opportunities for Alameda’s 10,000 public school students. Because of you, in 2014 – 2015 we were able to:

  • Adopt 189 teachers across Alameda, representing $94,500 that went directly into Alameda classrooms.
  • Support one-on-one academic counseling enabling 100% of high school sophomores at participating schools to receive individualized counseling.
  • Introduce over 2,700 elementary students to classical music through the Oakland East Bay Symphony’s Young People’s Concert.
  • Sponsor an after-school robotics program for middle and high school students.
  • Provide a year-round, after school competitive sports program for over 600 middle school student-athletes.
  • Enable 3,000 students to discover new subjects and develop new passions through our after school and summer camp enrichment programs.
  • Provide 1,000 homeless, formerly homeless and low-income students with new backpacks and age appropriate school supplies.
  • Educate over 200 high school students and their families about making wise college planning and financial decisions.
  • Prepare over 600 students for high school through our Incoming Freshman Information Nights.
  • Provide summer internships for 40 high school students.

With your support, we will achieve the following 2015 – 2016 goals:

  • Increase the number of Adopt A Classroom donations and continue to give 100% of each $500 adoption to the teacher.
  • Support vocational career pathways for students who need an alternative to the four-year college option.
  • Increase the number and variety of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) enrichment programs.
  • Support increased exposure to and engagement in the arts for all students.
  • Strengthen our collaboration with Alameda nonprofits to meet the needs of all Alameda students in the most effective manner possible.

Every dollar makes a difference to the students we serve and helps make our schools among the best in the area!
