Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) president Bill Sonneman presented a check to support music, art and drama programs in Alameda public schools at the Alameda Unified School District Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. The check represents funds received from “All Together Now,” an evening of music and dancing on November 12, 2010 that featured The Sun Kings, northern California’s popular Beatles tribute band, and DJ Pete Fletcher and His Hand-Picked Oldies Show. The benefit was a joint effort by AEF, Drew Harrison of The Sun Kings, and Prudential Real Estate’s Pete Fletcher. In addition to music and dancing, over 300 guests enjoyed delicious cuisine, wine and beer from over 25 local restaurants, vintners and brewers.

Almost $16,000.00 was raised and funds will go to support visual and performing arts in all Alameda public schools, including both traditional and charter schools. All Together Now is planned to become an annual event that will raise awareness and provide vital funding for the arts in Alameda public schools.
