Bill’s Word: Salute to Education

Dear Friend,

I would like to cordially invite you to join me on Friday, April 25th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Rhythmix Cultural Works, 2513 Blanding Ave., for Salute to Education.  This is AEF’s annual event celebrating public education in Alameda.  Salute to Education honors an innovative program and a selected volunteer from each of Alameda’s 20 K-12 public schools, which are showcased at the event on posters and in a showcase program.  Guests will also enjoy listening to the sounds of the Alameda and Encinal High jazz combos while tasting delicious appetizers from Cafe Q and enjoying local wine and beer.  It is the one time of year when teachers, administrators, parents and community members from all over Alameda come together to celebrate and socialize.

Some of the innovative school programs featured this year include a high school “Link Crew” that helps 9th graders transition into high school, an elementary school “Garden Docent” program that supports grade level science curriculum, and a middle school assembly program that builds school unity.  The Alameda Education Foundation will also be showcasing some of our programs, including Adopt A Classroom, Middle School Sports, and Enrichment programs.  I’m so pleased to go to this event every year because I can see and feel the high level of commitment to the students of this community.  I think you will enjoy it, too.

Advance tickets are $30 and may be purchased online here here.  All tickets include one drink ticket and a commemorative wine glass.  Additional drink tickets are just $5.00 each.  Advance tickets are encouraged as the event is expected to sell out.

I sincerely hope to see you on April 25th!

Sincerely,

Bill Sonneman, President
