AEF Beneficiary in Alameda Running Festival, Sept. 16-17!

Alameda Running Festival 017The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF)  is a beneficiary of the Saturday 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run/Walk events! The Alameda Running Festival is Sept. 16 – 17 at Alameda Point.  There will be a Family Fun Run, 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon for everyone to enjoy. This 2-day festival is for all ages and features kids activities, great food, free local beer for participants, and most of all, enjoyment with one of the best running communities in the country.

Not a runner?  Then enjoy the festivities while you volunteer.  High schoolers and adults are encouraged to volunteer and AEF will receive a donation for each registered volunteer that designates AEF as their beneficiary.  High school students may use this towards their community service requirements.  Register to volunteer at and be sure to enter AEF in the section for the nonprofit/club/team that your volunteering hours should benefit.





Harry Potter supports literary arts!

Order the new Harry Potter book and support literary and visual arts across Alameda!  Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the new book by JK Rowling that will be released on July 31st, right after the the opening of the play by the same name.  In fact, the book will be published in script form to coincide with the play.  Books Inc. Alameda is donating 20% of all presales to AEF.  Books may be purchased by calling 510-522-2226 or by visiting Books Inc. at 1344 Park St.  Proceeds will support AEF’s visual and literary arts programs.



July 4th Festival Features The Sun Kings


Join us at Alameda South Shore Center on July 4th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM for everyone’s favorite Beatles tribute band, The Sun Kings! AEF and friends will be 4th of July 3pouring wine and beer from R & B Cellars and Alameda Island Brewing Company.  Beverage sales benefit the Equipped 4 Success school supply drive.

There will also be a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painters, henna, games, raffles and more fun for all ages.

Equipped 4 Success is a community school supply drive that supports Alameda homeless, formerly homeless and low-income students, kindergarten through 12th grade, by providing them the materials they need to learn when school starts.  Each student we support receives a new backpack and quality, grade-level appropriate school supplies.

Can’t make it on the 4th!  There are other ways you can support the drive.

  3. Donate school supplies at Alameda fire stations #1, #2 or #4.
