Purchase your tickets by November 20th to help save the planet!
Recycle Woman is a super hero whose alias is Miss Alameda. Recycle Woman made a promise to herself that she would do everything in her power to help save the planet and the people of the world. Her super powers help her accomplish this mission by giving her the ability to fly and show people images of the planet’s condition due to pollution and mistreatment, through the palm of her hand. She can even dump the plastic gyre from the ocean onto people who refuse to listen. Her mission is to teach the community the power behind living sustainable lifestyles and taking responsibility for their everyday choices.
The film is sponsored by StopWaste.org, Northern California Recycling Association, Altamont Education Advisory Board, and Alameda County Industries. There are special guest appearances from Alameda’s Mayor Marie Gilmore and the Alameda’s Fire and Police Captains. With the support from Captain Charles Moore (who discovered the plastic gyre), the movie provides real life footage of plastic in the ocean from his movie, “Synthetic Sea.” The goal is to help create more awareness of the planets condition and empower people with the tools to start making simple sustainable changes in their daily lives to help save our home, planet Earth.

“All Together Now” to Support the Arts in Alameda Public Schools on November 10 at Alameda Theatre
Alameda, CA. The Historic Alameda Theatre will open its doors Thursday, November 10 at 6:30 pm for “All Together Now,” Alameda’s most FABulous party supporting music, art and drama in Alameda public schools. There will be dancing in the aisles when the evening’s headliners, Beatles tribute band The Sun Kings, hit the stage. A highlight of the evening will be when Alameda student musicians join The Sun Kings to play Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band in its entirety. Guests will warm up with DJ Pete Fletcher’s Hand Picked Oldies show featuring special guests, nationally acclaimed a capella group Talk of the Town, and an award winning performance by Dance 10.
The entertainment won’t be the only amazing part of the evening. In the true spirit of All Together Now, many local restaurants, vintners and breweries have joined the effort by providing a wide variety of delicious food, wines and brews. The Alameda Association of REALTORS® has lined up several wonderful silent auction items including a week’s stay in Maui, a cabin vacation in Lake Tahoe and a flight over the Bay. In addition there’ll be a couple of fun raffles including the chance to win a Scooter for as little as twenty dollars.
Beginning as an idea dreamed up between friends Drew Harrison and Pete Fletcher over a cup of coffee, “All Together Now” came to life in 2010 when local artists, businesses, and residents celebrated visual and performing arts in Alameda schools. With your support music, art, and drama will continue to inspire and spark the imaginations of our students. “Music is about communication, creativity, and cooperation, and by studying music in schools, students have the opportunity to build on these skills, enrich their lives, and experience the world from a new perspective.”– President Bill Clinton
“All Together Now 2011” is brought to you by Drew Harrison of The Sun Kings, Pete Fletcher, the Alameda Association of REALTORS, Alameda Theater and Cineplex, and the Alameda Education Foundation.
Tickets are $50 on the day of the show starting at 6:30pm at the door. The Alameda Education Foundation is a nonprofit supporting vital programs in art, music, drama, sports, and much more!

Dear Friends,
From pirates to literature to rock & roll, the next month is so chock full of happenings that I wanted to send out a special message just highlighting these special events.
Sunday, October 16, 10 AM – 4 PM, Bridgeside Shopping Center. I will be emceeing Pirates in Paradise at the Bridgeside (Nob Hill) Shopping Center. This event, sponsored by Farmer’s Insurance agent Deborah Wright and the Alameda-Oakland boating community, features an all day-long boating regatta with everything from kayaks to dragon boats to whale boats on display. Boat rides, which are open to the public for only $1 a ride, are in the morning. The afternoon features boat races, which may be entered for $10/adult, $5/child. There will be the second annual “Battle of the Paddle” between Alameda’s own Police and Fire Departments. Booths, information about America’s Cup, and water safety demonstrations are on deck, too. Proceeds from the event benefit AEF.

| Buy your book at Books Inc. |
Wednesday, October 26th, 6:00 PM Historic Alameda Theatre. Books Inc. presents Caldecott award-winning author Brian Selznick introducing his new book, WonderStruck, at Alameda Theatre . Simply purchase WonderStruck, or The Invention of Hugo Cabret at Books Inc. and receive a ticket to the event (with up to two more available for $10 each). In fact, go on into Books Inc. just to see the amazing work done by Scott Hixton’s third grade class at Henry Haight Elementary School, who created their own versions of Selznick’s The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Led by AEF Board Member and Art Docent, Pam Chang, students learned to edit their writing and to refine their drawings so that the words and pictures fall into sequence, just as they would in a Selznick book. It is an inspiring display! Selznick’s presentation is sure to be quite inspiring, as well. A portion of every book sale will be donated to AEF. More information is here.
Thursday, November 10th, 6:30 PM Historic Alameda Theatre. Nurturing budding artists, as with the Selznick project, is a core value of the AEF. In fact, it is the whole reason behind our major fundraiser, All Together Now, which raises funds to support visual and performing arts in our schools. Funds raised from this event go directly to art, drama and music programs in Alameda public schools. Last year, funds from All Together Now purchased art supplies for elementary schools, helped with high school drama production costs, and repaired and replaced musical instruments at all grade levels, just to name a few examples.
The best news is that supporting these vital programs has never been so fun! This year’s event features amazing Beatles tribute band, The Sun Kings, including a special performance of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band ” with Alameda student musicians. You’ll be treated to gourmet food and wine. And we have some amazing auction items, including a trip to Maui, a Tahoe cabin vacation, a week’s stay in a San Diego cabin during the America’s Cup and more! Advance tickets are available now online or at these retail outlets: Daisy’s, Color Me Mine, Lilac Boutique, 1400 Bar and Grill, Harbor Bay Realty, Kane and Associates, Gallagher and Lindsey.
I hope you’ll join us for the most FABulous party of the year!
Sincerely,
Bill Sonneman
President
