It can be played as a singles game (with two players) or a doubles game (with four players). The students will learn the basics of playing Pickleball.

Students will explore real-world concepts by creating a pop-up bank, using play money, and running their own mini store. They'll also learn how money is printed and circulated, and how institutions like the Federal Reserve work. Through exciting hands-on activities, kids will not only build financial confidence but also develop a sharp, money-smart mindset that will help them navigate everyday spending, saving, and decision-making with ease!

Using theater games, acting exercises, storytelling, and scene-work, this class will teach true theater skills, build self-confidence, and inspire the imagination! Class culminates with a free performance of scenes and monologues for friends, fans and family members!

Designed for students of all Chinese backgrounds—from complete beginners to heritage and intermediate learners—Joyful Thoughts offers a structured, topic-based Chinese enrichment program that makes language learning engaging, practical, and meaningful. Students explore real-world topics through hands-on projects, collaborative learning, and meaningful communication. Every lesson is built around a purposeful Final Delivery, giving students a clear goal while encouraging active language use throughout the learning process. Lessons develop listening, speaking, reading (Simplified Chinese), and introductory writing through exploration, creativity, and real-life communication. Each semester introduces new interdisciplinary topics while systematically revisiting and expanding previously learned language, allowing both new and returning students to make continuous progress through fresh learning experiences.

This combination beginner and intermediate level class will cover/review chess basics (chessboard terminology and square identification; how the various pieces move and capture, plus their relative values; pawn promotion; the crucial concepts of check, checkmate, and stalemate; the special move of castling; opening goals and principles; basic tactics; endgame checkmates using major pieces; and last, but not least, good chess etiquette) on a class-wide basis or individually during supervised play as needed. Instruction will otherwise focus on learning tactics and strategy through the explanation of games and positions from historical players and events, and current top-level competitions.

AEF/ACC afterschool chess classes are split time-wise between instruction and supervised play. The instructor will organize and run an unofficial tournament during the last 3-5 weeks of this level course, with labeled medals as awards for all participants upon completion.

All enrolled students earn and accumulate points towards ACC's Royalty Loyalty Program (RLP) rewards by participating in the instruction half of class and playing with good chess etiquette afterwards. RLP rewards consist of chess-related items, including chess puzzle books and equipment.

With its nearly 1,500 years of history, chess is arguably the greatest and most popular board game of all time. Numerous studies have suggested that learning and playing chess at an early age can yield various benefits regarding cognitive skills. Confidence, decision-making, and sportsmanship are other areas of potential improvement. The benefits and enjoyment of chess can last a lifetime!
