Student Eligibility

Student Eligibility for AEF Programs

Enrichment After-School Classes

AEF Enrichment After-School classes are open to students enrolled in Alameda Unified or Alameda public charter schools only. Students may attend classes at a different campus than their home school, but they must be enrolled in an Alameda public school.

Enrichment classes or programs that are based at non-AUSD facilities may be open to non-AUSD or public charter students on a space availability basis, at the discretion of the AEF board.

Students must be signed up for the after school programs that match their grade level as specified in the class or course materials. Students who are not enrolled in educational programs with traditional grade levels must sign up for the program that matches their age as of Sept. 1 of the current school year (e.g. if a student is 10 on Sept. 1, 2023, that student must sign up for 5th grade level programs).

Scholarships are available to AUSD or Alameda public charter school students.

Summer Enrichment Camps

AEF Summer Enrichment Camps are open to all students regardless of school attendance or residency.

Students must be signed up for the camps that match their grade level for current school year. Students who are not in educational programs with traditional grade levels must sign up for the camp that matches their age as of Sept. 1 of the current/immediately preceding school year (e.g. if a student is 10 on Sept. 1, 2023 that student must sign up as a completed 5th grader for 2024 summer camps).

Scholarships are available to AUSD or Alameda public charter school students who are enrolled in the Free/Reduced Lunch program.

AEF Middle School Sports

Students compete for their school teams and must attend the school they play for. Only students who are enrolled full time in AUSD or Alameda public charter schools, in grades 6 – 8, and in good standing at the school in which they are enrolled are eligible to compete for their school of enrollment.

To participate in AEF Sports, AEF requires that student-athletes have a 2.0 minimum G.P.A. with no single grade of an “F” as of the most recent site grading term.  If you have questions about grades or school performance, please contact your school site Athletic Director or Administrator.

Scholarships are available to qualified AUSD or public school students.

Students with Adaptive Needs

Does your child have adaptive needs? AEF would love to work with you to help your student access our After School Enrichment classes and Summer Camps, including the possibility of having a para-professional work with your student. Contact our Enrichment Coordinator at Enrichment@AlamedaEducation.org to discuss options.

Visual And Performing Arts (VAPA)

AEF VAPA programs include Art Across the Island, which are displays artwork from students who attend AUSD and Alameda public charter schools, and Art Changes, which offers a video demonstration by featured artists AND a student project based on each artist’s work. It’s designed to help AUSD teachers provide visual arts instruction in their classrooms.
