AEF Teacher Mini Grant Makes an Impact

AEF recently awarded a mini grant to AUSD student support services to purchase a bicycle for a student in need. Here’s the scoop from the program manager:

“AUSD’s Coordination of Services team is so proud of the way this student has begun the school year—so positively! She recently got a job and she really wants to arrive at school and work on time this year. She mentioned to our attendance clerk that she is frustrated that she doesn’t have a lot of say of when she gets places, as she relies on her mother to shuttle her and her siblings around. We thought that a bike would give her more freedom to make her own choices about how she gets around so in an effort to support her positive changes, we banded together to get her one!”

AEF’s mini grant program is designed to support unique needs that do not have other sources of funding and that address issues of equity. Because of this Mini Grant, a young lady can now be more empowered to be successful in school and in work and in her life!
