Julia LaChica has been painting since she was three and the wonder and optimism that she had as a child is evident in her vibrant work. Hope, Dream and Resilience addresses immigration through the image of a large butterfly carrying a child to a new home. The art project video shows students how to draw butterflies by seeing the body as an upside-down exclamation mark and the wings as a series of triangles. The project is easy, uses science and can be done with colored pencils.
