My Big World Magazine Supplements Main Curriculum

When Paden teacher Jeannie Slone went back to teaching TK from 2nd grade, she found that the resource she had previously relied on, the Scholastic My Big World magazine, was no longer funded by the District. She turned to AEF for help with a subscription to reinforce classroom learning. The magazine helps students navigate the social emotional aspects of school life by providing a strong cross-subject resource that supports social-emotional learning, social studies, math, science, fine motor, and literacy..

Ms. Sloane wrote: “My kids love being able to take the magazine home to share with their families. And is has been useful while I waited for the new curriculum to arrive. My TK students are really enjoying the program, and I appreciate that it comprises so many visuals and activities that align with our TK learning goals. Here’s a picture of my students engaged with the online component learning all about fall. They then worked on patterning and fine motor tracing that went along with the information. And, they are always so excited to take their very own magazine home to share the learning with their families. Thank you so much for this resource!”
