2023-2024 Volleyball Championship Results
Congratulations Encinal and Lincoln Volleyball
Congratulations to Encinal Jr. Jets and Lincoln Lions for their AEF Middle School Sports Coed Volleyball Championships!
In Division I action, the Encinal Jr. Jets defended their title by defeating the Wood Beavers on October 24th 2-1 (25-15, 23-25, 15-13). In Division II action on November 14th, it was the Lincoln Lions over Encinal 2-0 (25-20, 25-14).
Fall volleyball included 10 teams and 140 student-athletes representing all seven public middle schools in Alameda. Students learned valuable life skills about teamwork and goal-setting. AEF’s Sports program is not like other youth leagues in that we include behavioral and academic tie-ins to support students’ developmental and academic growth as well. As one student from Bay Farm told us, “Thank you so much. Without you guys, I wouldn’t have experienced being on a team. You guys don’t know how much I am grateful.”
Girls basketball is next with games beginning Nov. 28th.
Impact of Middle School Sports – Volleyball

He went back to serve for the first time all season during a game, and he missed. I told him not to worry and to shake it off. He would get it… Read more
I had different two parents tell me that during volleyball it was the happiest they have seen their kid and that volleyball became a place they felt safe and could be themselves and not worry about the non positive things going on at school and home. Our team became a family and a place to have fun no matter what else was going on in the players lives.
I had a student who enjoyed PE volleyball and I encouraged her to tryout. She was so excited she made the team, she had never played before and was new to a lot of team sports. She did so well, she became a starter on my Divsion 1. She improved each practice and was always asking for tips and tricks after practice and at school. She loved it so much that her dad is trying to organize pick up games now so she and others can stay in contact and keep their skills up for High School (club teams are … Read more
After our team party last week, one mom emailed me. She said her daughter came home all smiles and announced, “Mom, I found my thing! Sign me up for volleyball every year!”
