Darius Riley was raised in East Palo Alto before making his way to Maine’s Bowdoin College. He now lives in Oakland where he works as a photographer and edits music videos for Bay Area rappers. In his art video, Riley stresses the importance of listening to and making connections with the people he photographs. He, also, takes us on a journey around Oakland’s Lake Merritt where he uses the Rule of Thirds to photograph landscapes. In the art project video, students learn how to use The Rule of Thirds to enhance anything that they draw. Colored pencils work best with these detailed drawings.
