2025-2026 Boys and Girls Flag Football Season
Starting Spring 2026, AEF - in partnership with United Sports - will be offering a boys and girls middle school flag football league that runs from February to May. Please review the information below for more details about the season and note that the registration process will look different than AEF's other middle school sports. Team Selection
- Team formation will begin after registration closes and is done in a way that considers age groups, skill levels, and any buddy or coaching requests. ALL registered athletes will be on a team.
- After teams are created, all players will receive an email confirming the player's team assignment and roster and including the names of the coach(es) and teammates.
- Coaches will then reach out to their teams to make introductions and provide more details about practice schedules and team expectations.
- Scholarships are available through United Sports, please review the additional scholarship information below before submitting your request.
Scholarship Information for Middle School Sports:
Flag Football scholarships are provided through United Sports and all requests MUST be completed using this form.
Additional financial assistance can be requested by completing an application through RCX Sports Foundation, Youth Scholarship Program. Click here to apply. Flag Football Venue
Flag Football games will be held at Estuary Park unless otherwise noted. Practice locations will be communicated by the coach and will either be on the Main Street Field or Lincoln Middle School.
AEF's Guiding Principles for Middle School Sports
Program Principles
- Health and Safety
- Adherence to applicable COVID and/or other health or safety protocols.
- Recognition that social emotional health can be supported through a positive sports environment.
- Focus on Equity
- When applicable, team selection should be made in consultation with site administrators with consideration of who would most benefit from team participation.
- Inclusivity is an important value of the program.
- Sites will actively reach out to students who may not be reached in regular outreach efforts.
- Rules may be modified or developed to support the developing student-athlete.
- Team/individual recognitions provided to support life-skills like sportsmanship, integrity, and grit.
- Preparation for high school
- Academic and behavioral tie-ins.
- To participate in AEF Sports, AEF requires that student-athletes have a 2.0 minimum G.P.A. with no single grade of an 'F' as of the most recent site grading term. If you have questions about grades or school performance, please contact your school site Athletic Director or Administrator.

- Equitable Participation in Sports
AEF follows CIF (CA Interscholastic Federation) and AUSD policies regarding equitable participation in sports. All students are eligible to participate in AEF sports programs regardless of sex or gender. In sex-segregated teams, students may participate consistent with their gender identity.

In an effort to make our sports program a positive experience for all student-athletes, AEF has established basic Code of Conduct requirements for students, parent/guardians, and spectators. Your school site may have additional requirements. Please be familiar with these and support the positive development of our youth by adhering to these.

Review the United Sports Spectator Expectations below:
- To help create a positive, safe, and respectful experience for all: ONLY players and coaches are allowed on the field during practices and games
- Parents MUST remain in the stands -- NO chairs or tents on the field
- NO PETS allowed on school grounds or at games at Estuary Park
- Please throw away all trash in garbage bins
- NO heckling or negative comments toward referees, coaches, players, or other families
- If you see something concerning, please let us know right away.
