This is Why AEF Does What it Does
This article in the San Jose Mercury News underscores the need for AEF to continue to do the work that we do.There is simply not enough State funding to meet the needs of our public schools. AEF strives to fill the gaps by raising funds to support needs at lower-income schools, and by running programs that would otherwise not exist, like middle school sports, teacher mini grants and after school enrichment. English Learners sporting “Multilingualism is my Super Power!” t-shirts took a field trip to San Francisco last week to see the sights, practice English, and revel in being someone who speaks more than one language. (The t-shirts were paid for by a grant from the Alameda Education Foundation to help instructors keep track of students on the field trip).
