Since 2012, Equipped 4 Success has been helping Alameda’s most vulnerable children begin the school year with new backpacks filled with school supplies. I am writing to ask for your financial support for this important effort.
Equipped 4 Success is a community wide school supply drive that supports homeless, formerly homeless and low-income Alameda Kindergarten – 12th grade students with new backpacks and quality, grade-appropriate school supplies that they need to be ready to learn on the first day of school.
Research shows that the average family spends $109 per year per child on school supplies. Families struggling to overcome poverty or the trauma of homelessness lack the resources to buy these school supplies. Students who begin school without the school supplies they need are at risk of falling behind their more affluent peers.
Equipped 4 Success is a collaboration of the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF), the Alameda Unified School District and Alameda nonprofits that serve children and families. By working with our partners, we are able to ensure that the students most in need receive the tools they need to start the year ready to learn.
Your cash donation enables us to take advantage of bulk orders and price breaks to get the most bang for the buck. Tax-deductible donations may be made online or by mailing a check to AEF (please indicate E4S in the memo line) to PO Box 1363, Alameda, CA 94501.
Together we can ensure that a lack of pencils, pens or paper does not stand in the way of any Alameda child’s education!
