Asteroids Cross Country team

What’s New for Cross Country This Fall

Starting this year, AEF’s Asteroids Cross Country program will be a part of the Middle School sports program. The program – previously run under AEF Enrichment – is open to students enrolled in Alameda Unified and Charter public middle schools grades 6th-8th. The Alameda Asteroids is unlike AEF’s other middle school sports because it provides a unique opportunity for student-athletes to compete together on one team representing Alameda against other middle schools in the league.

A Message from AEF’s New Executive Director

Greetings!

I am thrilled to join the Alameda Education Foundation as the new Executive Director. With Vicki’s impending retirement, I know I have big shoes to fill, and I appreciate that she has offered a generous overlap period as I learn the numerous facets of AEF’s work. I look forward to meeting with many of our AEF community members, partners and supporters over the coming weeks as I step into this role.

Rotary matching grant awarded November 2024

Alameda Rotary Club Gives Matching Grant to AEF

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024 the Alameda Rotary Club presented $19,750 in matching grants to nonprofit organizations to support the important services and support that they provide in our community. The grants were presented at a meeting at Trinity Lutheran Church, which provided its Fellowship Hall for the event. Alameda Education Foundation received a matching grant from the Alameda Rotary Club along with several other non-profits in Alameda.

The grants are “matching” because individual Rotarians can make a donation to a worthy nonprofit in our community and then have our club’s foundation “match” that amount to double their donation.
