Danielle Pharr-Matthews, Principal at Ruby Bridges Elementary, wanted to create a special event for families in her school community where African American and Multi-ethnic parents, guardians and students would be able to share stories and ask questions in a caring environment. Danielle asked AEF to help sponsor this event and we were happy to do so as it was aligned with our focus on equity.

Fourth grade teacher at Love Elementary, Ryan Brazil, asked AEF for some help with funding hands on games and puzzles for more educational fun during rainy days. Here’s what he wrote:

Marie Ratto, the Physical Education Teacher at Ruby Bridges Elementary reached out to AEF for help in purchasing a new 27″-32″ TV for her Physical Education Program to replace a very old TV. The TV will be used to support students in fitness and other areas in the Ruby Bridges Physical Education curriculum. It’s particularly helpful on rainy days when some of classes have to move to the ARPD Bayport Community building for indoor P.E.

“We had an amazing time on December 13 taking the ferry to SF and going to the Aquarium of the Bay to learn about native marine life. Your check made it possible for us to take 45 third graders and 16 chaperones round trip. We also had a great interactive classroom program at the aquarium, as well as a wonderful tour through the tunnel tanks and more.”
