New Inspirational Student Art on Display Across Alameda

Students are finding inspiration from books, famous artists, cultural inspirations, and even science in their artwork currently on display at Alameda public libraries, Books Inc. and Lilac Dress Boutique in Alameda. For example, an Edison 4th grade class looked at scientific photos taken under the microscope and viewed work by contemporary artists who incorporate science, medicine and the microscopic world in their art. Taking inspiration from the shapes, patterns and colors observed, while keeping in mind composition, balance and ways of drawing with thread, these Edison students created their own microbe-inspired embroidery. View their artwork at the Bay Farm Island Library (3221 Mecartney Rd.) on display until March 31, 2023.
