Bill’s Word: Stories that make me smile

Dear Friend,

My favorite part of being president of the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) is making people smile, like when I walk into a classroom to make an Adopt A Classroom presentation and the kids are cheering and the teacher is smiling – sometimes crying – from joy.

But sometimes I’m the one who does the smiling thanks to the great stories I hear.  A few weeks back I was making a presentation about AEF to the Rotary Club and I shared this story:  Years ago when I was principal at Encinal High School,

AEF Middle School Basketball Results

Academy Olympians and Lincoln Lions Claim Titles

Alameda, CA (March 1, 2013) – The Academy of Alameda Olympians Boys A team showed their dominance in a 59 – 46 win over the Wood Beavers at the Alameda Education Foundation’s Middle School basketball boys championships on Feb. 26th.  With size, speed and a strong shooting arsenal, they had no trouble defending their #1 position over a worthy opponent.
