Model UN Field Trip

National High School Model UN (NHSMUN) is the largest Model UN conference in the world. It hosts students from around the world in New York City to try to solve global issues. Students use diplomacy, problem solving, and public speaking skills to work with other students to try to solve some of the most pressing issues of our time. Encinal High School sent a delegation of students to this conference this year. The students were a diverse cross-section of Encinal learners who are excited about this amazing opportunity.

On April 25, 2024, AEF Executive Director, Vicki Sedlack, attended the Alameda Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards and was honored to receive the Community Leader of the Year Award!

New Spring Enrichment Classes Start Soon!

REGISTRATION IS OPEN – SPACES ARE LIMITED – REGISTER TODAY!

AEF’s After School Enrichment program offers fun, educational classes featuring small class sizes taught by experts in their fields. With the wide selection of programs, you’ll find enriching and engaging activities to match your student’s interests and passions as they learn and grow.

AEF classes are open to AUSD and charter school students. Most classes are conveniently located at your child’s school site.

Looking for Summer Camp youth leaders

Looking for Youth Leaders!

AEF is looking for Volunteer Youth Leaders for this year’s Summer Camp program! The application process is currently open to all students 15- 17 yrs old. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours while working with camp instructors and children over the summer.

Summer Camp Youth Leaders will gain:

  • Gain leadership skills, demonstrated responsibility and teamwork experience as a camp leader working with young students.
  • Experience a real-world job application and interview process in a safe environment.

Incentivizing Reading at EHS

Encinal did not have a librarian for nearly three months of the 2023-2024 school year. As the new Library Teacher, Heidi Swensen, a former graduate of Encinal HS, had the opportunity to become reacquainted with the community she always felt connected to. She also wanted to recharge enthusiasm for reading.

Ms. Swensen requested an AEF mini grant to buy gift cards to incentivize students and staff to participate in a book review raffle,
