Bill’s Word: Back to School Drive

Dear Friend,

You may think I am getting ahead of myself from this email’s subject line, but I do mean back to school.  AEF is getting a head start launching

Equipped 4 Success, Alameda’s community wide school supply drive.

Our goal is to support 1,000 homeless, formerly homeless and very low income Kindergarten – 12th grade students with new backpacks and grade-appropriate school supplies that they need to be ready to learn on the first day of school.  By purchasing items early, we are able to take advantage of greatly discounted bulk rates and maximize the impact of each and every donation.

I ask you to consider a tax-deductible donation to AEF today.  You may mail in a check to AEF (please indicate E4S in the memo line) to PO Box 1363, Alameda, CA  94501 or click here to make an online donation.  Our goal is to generate $20,000 by the last day of school on June 12th!

School supplies will be distributed to low-income students served by the:

  • Alameda Unified School District’s McKinney-Vento Program (for homeless families)
  • Alameda Point Collaborative (serving formerly homeless families)
  • Alameda Head Start
  • Alameda Boys & Girls Club
  • Girls Inc. of the Island City

Together we can ensure that a lack of pencils, pens or paper does not stand in the way of any Alameda child’s education!

Sincerely,

Bill Sonneman, President
