Alameda Bike Festival

Alameda Bike Festival 2025

Every year, the City of Alameda (along with event partners including Alameda Unified School District) hosts a Bike Festival, and this year it will be held at Paden Elementary School (444 Central Ave, Alameda, CA 94501) on Saturday, April 26, 2025. AEF will have a table at this event with prizes, give-aways, information on our Summer Camps, and more. Bring your friends and family to this free annual citywide bike festival for people of all ages!

Art Changes Exhibit 2025

Student Art Exhibit Opens April 19, 2025

A new AEF student artwork exhibit, featuring the artwork of Salma Arastu , photographs by Will Chang, and poetry by poet laureate Maw Shien Win will open on April 19, 2025. The  student artwork will be inspired by Salma’s Interdependence panels, and student poetry based on Maw’s nature poem. The exhibit is called Our Earth: Embracing All Communities. The exhibit will run through May 25, 2025.

AEF will have a table at the City of Alameda’s 2025 Youth Career & Job Fair with information on how you can apply to be an AEF Volunteer Summer Camp Leader! Hope we see you there!

The Youth Career & Job Fair connects Alameda high school students with local organizations who may have career opportunities, internships or summer positions. It is supported by AUSD, Alameda Collaborative for Children,

Maw Shein Win's Thistles

Poetry Slam 2025 is On!

AEF will be hosting it’s 2nd Annual Poetry Slam on March 22, 2025 from 2 – 4 PM at Books Inc., 1344 Park St. in Alameda, CA.

Poet Maw Shein Win will be there to read her poem Thistles, talk about writing and answer any questions!

Alameda K-12 students will be reading their works influenced by a nature poem by poet laureate Maw Shein Win. Middle and high school students must submit their poetry prior to the event by emailing aefpam@gmail.com
