New Art Project Videos for Free Summer Fun

Art Changes introduces 5 new artists and art project videos for free summer fun!

Get out your crayons and markers and hop on this page because AEF’s Art Changes has grown. We now have 18 artist videos and18 art project videos on our website.

In the new artist videos, you’ll meet 5 gifted Bay Area artists who have made short, engaging videos about their work. The accompanying art project videos make it easy to create drawings (or collage) inspired by these new artists.

You’ll see Julia LaChica address immigration with her butterfly imagery while Derrick Bell celebrates our differences by turning faces into flowers. Julie Atkinson will use watercolor and collage to capture Africa, AUSD’s Constance Moore will who you how to illustrate a book and Claire Lau paints the great outdoors.

You’ll learn how to draw a butterfly by seeing the body as an upside-down exclamation mark and the wings as a series of triangles. You’ll make a self-portrait with realistic daisies, violets, roses and tulips. Yes, there’s science in these art projects! Making a collage is hands-on fun that involves texture as is creating a book cover using curving lines and geometric shapes. The projects finish with a trip outside to draw in the fresh air.

AEF wants to thank our diverse group of visual artists who have permitted us to showcase their work on an ongoing basis. We, also, want to thank Rhythmix Cultural Works. For the past 2 years, Art Changes has partnered with Rhythmix’s PAL program to bring performers and visual artists into Alameda County classrooms.

AFE’s renewed focus on diversity, equity and inclusion means that we are striving to provide Alameda families with representation as well as access to the different lived experiences the Bay Area has to offer.
