2011 – 2012 Financial Highlights

Community support has enabled the Alameda Education Foundation to raise funds and coordinate programs to support and enhance the quality of K-12 public education in Alameda.   Here’s what your contributions supported in 2011-2012:

Adopt A Classroom

Ninety classroom teachers were “adopted” this year totalling $45,000 directly to the classroom to support teachers and students. The Foundation directs 100% of each $500 Adopt A Classroom to teachers.

Enrichment

Registrations increased by 31% over last year for AEF’s Enrichment program to 3,165 participants.  Students took classes in art, music, foreign languages, creative writing, science and many other subjects. We also began offering Enrichment Summer Camps in 2012.

Middle School Sports

We added a combined ACLC/Nea team to our year-round after school Middle School Sports program bringing up the number of participants to over 450.  Student-athletes compete in volleyball (fall), basketball (winter) and track & field (spring).  This program receives no state or district funding – it is 100% supported by minimal program fees, grants and generous donations.

Salute to Education

Close to 400 guests joined us in the spring to honor school innovative programs and volunteers.

Visual and Performing Arts

The Foundation distributed $35,000 to music, art and drama programs in Alameda public schools.  We undertook an instrument donation program to help get instruments in the hands of more students.

Thank you for Supporting Student Success!
