In the 2022-23 school year, Derrick Lyons, Encinal Jr. Sr. High School’s CTE Marketing Pathway teacher, collaborated with the Alameda Chamber of Commerce to develop a Junior Chamber program with the help of AUSD CTE pathway specialist, Felicia Vargas. A Teacher Mini Grant from AEF supported Mr. Lyon’s research and planning for this program.

On April 25, 2024, AEF Executive Director, Vicki Sedlack, attended the Alameda Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards and was honored to receive the Community Leader of the Year Award!

In honor of Black History Month, AUSD’s Office of Equity...
Congratulations to Encinal Jr. Jets and Lincoln Lions for capturing wins in the AEF Middle School Sports girls basketball championships! Both teams fought off challenges by the Wood Beaver teams to win the DII and DI Championships, respectively.
This was a great year for AEF girls basketball. Five middle school teams competed: Academy of Alameda, ACLC/Nea combined, Encinal Jr. Jets, Lincoln, and Wood. All 5 made the playoffs and 3 made the championships.

Prices are going up by $10 on February 1, 2024! Alameda Education Foundation’s After School Enrichment program offers fun, educational after-school classes. Our programs feature small class sizes and are taught by experts in their fields. Registration for Alameda Wide and other AUSD schools’ registration opened on January 11, 2024. Keep checking our After School Enrichment page for the latest information. Each school has it’s own listing so be sure to check what’s on offer at your home school,

Many thanks to the Rotary Club of Alameda for their generous donation to AEF’s Teacher Mini Grant program!
With a specific focus on need, AEF Mini Grants provide an opportunity for AUSD teachers to apply for items that will benefit their students but that are not covered in the school budget. Many of these grants focus on teachers at Title I schools and special programs, such as Special Education and English Language Learning.
