Students are finding inspiration from books, famous artists, cultural inspirations, and even science in their artwork currently on display at Alameda public libraries, Books Inc. and Lilac Dress Boutique in Alameda. ‘Art Across the Island’ on Display Around Town

New artwork from Alameda students is on display at several Alameda libraries and Books Inc. through Alameda Education Foundation’s Art Across the Island program.

Students from Love Elementary School teacher Scott Hixon’s third-grade class made abstract drawings, which they cut apart and then wove with pieces of construction paper. Their pieces are inspired by artist Miguel Arzabe, who is known for filling canvases with paint then cutting them into strips and weaving the pieces into a completely new work.
