The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) is pleased to announce the recent election of three new members to its Board of Directors:  Timothy N. Lions Roar at Middle School Volleyball Championships

Lincoln Middle School Clinches Wins in Exciting Matches

Lincoln Middle School came into last week’s Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) Middle School Volleyball Championships with a comfortable number one seed, but strong challengers turned the matches into nail biters that went down to the wire.

In the A (varsity) team championships, Lincoln took the first game over the Academy of Alameda handedly, 25 – 7. But the Olympians tamed the Lions’ roar to a soft mew in the second game,

Powering Up Students for Learning!

At the Sept. 11, 2012 Board of Education meeting, Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) president Bill Sonneman presented grants to Alameda High School and Encinal High School to support technology needs in the schools’ academic intervention programs.

The funds were generated by Power Up 4 Learning, a collaboration between AEF and Alameda Municipal Power (AMP), that enables AMP customers to designate an amount to be added to their monthly power bill. AMP collects these donations and provides them to AEF to support technology needs at Alameda public schools.

Equipped for Success Launch

The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF), the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD), the Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), the Alameda Boys & Girls Club (Alameda BGC), and the Alameda Collaborative for Children, Youth and Families (ACCYF) are pleased to announce “Equipped for Success” – a community wide drive to collect school supplies for Alameda’s low-income students. “Our goal is to ensure that students begin the first day of class in 2012 with the supplies they need to be successful in the classroom,” said Bill Sonneman,

AEF offers Enrichment Camps

Enrichment ProgramsWhen school is out, learning is in with AEF’s Enrichment Camps!  AEF now offers Enrichment Camps on AUSD non-student days, including March 16th, Spring Break and Summer.  Chose from camps that support children’s academic, athletic, creative and social growth.  And are a whole lot of fun!  Camps include Mad Science, Dance and Digital Arts, Mandarin and Spanish Immersion, Middle School Math, Carpentry, Circus Arts, Marine Science, Soccer and much, much more serving students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Tricia Collins-Levi Business Award

Tricia Collins-Levi was a dedicated AEF Board Member for many years who worked tirelessly to involve the business community in her passion for public education.  In her memory, the Tricia Collins-Levi Business Award was established to recognize businesses which provide on-going support for Alameda public schools.  This award is presented every year at Salute to Education.  We hope you will join us April 29th and help us honor our supportive business community!

Alameda Education Foundation Sends Students to the Ballet

The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF), in conjunction with the Alameda Civic Ballet (ACB), is helping Alameda public school children attend ACB’s production of United We Dance, a multi-ethnic showcase of dances from around the world.  On Friday, April 29th, over 1,100 Alameda children will attend the special showing.  AEF provided scholarships for over 300 students and is sponsoring this special performance to enable students to attend at a discounted rate.
